Badgers are indicators of grassland and range health, improving species biodiversity and ecosystem services. Badger burrow networks, or burrow webs, create habitat for many grassland species, increase soil aeration and water infiltration, reduce erosion and nutrient run-off promoting deep rooting vegetation. Improved vegetation structure and composition promotes soil stability and can contribute to carbon sequestration over time.
